Terms and conditions
Counselling is not about giving advice but about exploring your thoughts and feelings. I can help you to work out what you might like to do.
If I cannot help you, then I may be able to refer you on to someone else or signpost you in the right direction, a little as described in my further resources pages (as some areas require specific agencies who specialise in the subject matter).
Counselling is confidential. In situations where someone is at risk of serious harm, I may have to break confidentiality on safeguarding grounds. This will be explained fully when we first meet. In the rare circumstances that confidentiality needs to be broken, I would always aim to discuss this with you first before speaking to anyone else.
I have regular supervision with my supervisor to make sure my work is appropriate and safe (all therapists should) and I may discuss our work together but my supervisor would not know who you were.
The time and day of your sessions will be agreed in advance. If you can not make the session please give as much notice as possible. 48 hours notice is needed for cancellations, otherwise the session will be charged at the standard rate.
If you have any concerns about my work, please feel free to discuss them with me so we can agree a way forward. If there is still no resolution, then you can contact the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk). As my professional body, they can provide guidance and support.
