Walk and Talk Therapy

Hi, you may have landed here directly by searching for Walk and Talk therapy from an advert or a google search or maybe just by exploring site. So what is Walk and Talk Therapy? Walk and Talk therapy is the same as any other form of talking therapy, the only difference being that rather than being in a counselling room or online, we meet at my office but then have the session whilst walking through the lovely parks of central Cheltenham. When the weather is nice, it gets us out in the fresh air, and of course gets us moving which is always good. Why Walk and Talk Therapy? Well some people are very comfortable sat in a counselling office, and I like to think that I am very approachable and even for the most anxious of clients, I think people quickly feel safe and supported. However, Walk and Talk can make things feel less pressured, because we will be walking alongside each other as opposed to facing each other. Also, sometimes people need to pause and reflect on their feelings and that may feel easier whilst walking, becasue silences don't feel so intimidating. What if I get tired easily? Well we could stop and sit on a bench. What about other people and confidentiality? This will be a personal choice thing, I like to imagine that for the majority of people we are just a couple of other people walking through the park. The routes I take are deliberately not too busy, so we would not be in earshot of other park users, or if we were, then only briefly. I think it is a good option for many people - if someone feels that the work they will be doing will be very deep and emotional, then it may be better in the counselling room but again, this is personal preference.

Please have a good browse around the site and feel free to ask me any questions that come up..
