Face to Face Counselling/Therapy
in Cheltenham

Sometimes life isn’t quite going the way we’d like. We might be feeling anxious, unhappy, struggling with relationships, or just sense that something isn’t right without really knowing why.
Often we spend so much time getting on with everyday life and meeting other people’s expectations that we don’t stop to think about how we’re feeling ourselves.
I offer face-to-face counselling from my room in central Cheltenham, where we can talk through what’s going on for you and begin to understand what you’d like to be different.
You don’t need to have everything worked out before you come. In fact, quite often that’s the very reason people do.
How I work
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different ways of understanding people. My main approaches are person-centred and psychodynamic. In everyday terms, I’m interested in how you’re feeling now, and also how you’ve come to be the person you are.
We all develop ways of thinking and relating to others over the years. Some help us, and some we carry on with simply because they’re what we’ve always known. Someone might have spent years keeping everyone else happy, avoiding disagreements or feeling responsible for other people’s feelings. It can be helpful to look at where those patterns came from and whether they still serve us.
There’s no fixed programme. We’ll focus on whatever feels important to you, and that may change as we go. I might point out patterns or offer a different perspective, but you’re the one who decides what feels right for your life.
What are sessions actually like?
It's quite alright to wonder what you are supposed to say, or whether they’ll be pushed to talk about things they’re not ready for. There’s no right or wrong way to do it.
Some people arrive with something specific in mind. Others have felt unhappy or overwhelmed for a long time and aren’t sure why. We might talk about something happening now, an experience from years ago, or how a current feeling connects with other parts of your life.
Counselling doesn’t always have to be serious. Sometimes there’s humour, sometimes difficult feelings, and occasionally we see something in a way neither of us had considered. It’s something we do together, not me analysing you or telling you what to do.
What might bring you to counselling?
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life changes, and questions around identity or direction in life.
I also support people exploring ADHD and neurodivergence, including those who have spent years feeling different or wondering why some things seem harder for them than for others. I don’t offer diagnosis, but I can support you whether or not you have one.
You don’t always need a label. Sometimes it’s simply about understanding yourself better and feeling more comfortable with who you are.
